Dhaka University has sacked three teachers
Dhaka University has sacked three teachers for being on leave without permission and not reporting back to work in time.
They are associate professor Nasreen Islam Khan of the geography and environment department, assistant professors K M Murshed and Mohammad Mushfiq Uddin of the finance department.
The decision to dismiss them was taken at a syndicate meeting on Saturday night, syndicate member and arts faculty dean professor Sadrul Amin told bdnews24.com.
He added that the syndicate has also set deadlines for five teachers within which they will have to join work.
Of them, pubic administration assistant professor Mohammad Ehsan, information science and library management professor Mohammad Hanif Uddin and pharmaceutical chemistry department assistant professor Mohiuddin Abdul Kadir have been ordered to join within four weeks.
Meanwhile, assistant professor of applied physics Mohammad Atiqur Rahman and pharmaceutical chemistry assistant professor Rasheduzzaman Choudhury were given eight weeks.
If they do not join within the deadline, they will be dismissed also, professor Amin added.
