Uphold people’s confidence, CEC tells officials

Outgoing Chief Election Commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda urged election officials to work neutrally and with diligence to uphold people’s trust.
“You’ll have to work neutrally and retain the confidence and achievements that the Election Commission has earned,” Huda told elections officials while speaking at a farewell ceremony organised in his honour.
The EC secretariat organised the programme at National Economic Council auditorium as the tenure of Huda and Election Commissioner Sohul Hussain expires Saturday.
The outgoing CEC urged the EC officials to work with utmost sincerity and neutrality to uphold the accomplishments of the election office.
During its five-year tenure, the EC successfully prepared a voter list with photographs, held the ninth parliamentary elections and several local government elections including polls to city corporations and union parishads, and introduced electronic voting machines (EVM).
He also advised EC officials to behave properly with service seekers.
